Il Bazzali offers solid, hearty Italian food with great service and a unique ambiance, but the dishes themselves fell short of leaving a lasting impression.
Highlights:
1. Exceptional Service:
The service was the standout feature of the experience. The servers were warm, hospitable, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering comforting small talk and thoughtful explanations of each dish.
2. Four-Course Menu:
We opted for the four-course menu, where each diner could choose their own appetizers, entrees, and dessert. While the concept was exciting, the execution of the dishes varied:
• Carrot and Lentil Soup: Served at a good temperature and portion size, but it lacked flavor and felt bland.
• Salmon Tartare: A highlight for my friends, with fresh and vibrant flavors.
• Prosciutto Board: Disappointing; the quality didn’t match expectations.
3. Main Courses:
• My main, a salmon carbonara, was underwhelming. While the pasta was cooked well, the flavors were too bland, and the overpowering lemon juice overwhelmed the delicate balance typically expected in carbonara.
4. Desserts:
The desserts were fine but didn’t stand out as anything memorable.
5. Ambiance:
Il Bazzali sets itself apart with a unique touch—an opera singer performing in the middle of the meal. If you enjoy live opera and want a mix of dining and entertainment, this is a great spot for you.
Overall:
Il Bazzali offers an intriguing dining experience with excellent service and a memorable atmosphere, but the food, while hearty, doesn’t quite hit the mark. Still, it’s worth a visit for those who value ambiance and exceptional hospitality.
