Pat and Betty is a stylish and contemporary restaurant in Calgary’s Victoria Park, known for its inviting atmosphere, thoughtful dishes, and curated drink menu. Named after the owner’s mothers, the place captures a sense of warmth and care, making it a delightful dining spot.
Highlights:
1. Seafood & Appetizers:
• Oysters: The oysters, likely from the East Coast, were fresh, cleanly shucked, and briny, providing a perfect start to the meal.
2. Pasta & Mains:
• Mezzi Rigatoni: The rigatoni was slightly under al dente, which some may prefer, but the flavors of the vodka sauce were balanced beautifully with the creamy burrata, helping to cut through the sauce’s richness.
• Picanha Sirloin: This seared sirloin was tender and cooked to perfection. The brandy peppercorn sauce, while decent, could have used a bit more flavor to stand out.
3. Recommended Dish:
• Foie Gras: Though I haven’t tried it, a friend highly recommended the foie gras as a must-have.
Ambiance:
The restaurant combines modern design with a warm, inviting feel, making it perfect for both intimate dinners and larger gatherings.
Overall Experience:
Pat and Betty delivers a quality dining experience with a mix of refined dishes and a cozy atmosphere. It’s a place worth visiting, especially if you enjoy fresh seafood, well-prepared meats, and classic pasta dishes.
