L’As du Fallafel is a place that comes with a lot of hype, but for me, it was somewhat underwhelming.
Highlights:
- High Expectations:
Given the heavy Middle Eastern influence in the area and the almost world-renowned reputation of this spot, I expected to be blown away. However, the experience did not quite live up to the hype. - Popularity:
Even at 10-11 PM on a weekday, this place was packed. It’s clear why it attracts such a crowd, with its central location and reputation for serving some of the best fallafel in Paris. - Menu Choices:
We each got the fallafel wraps, while Rami opted for the kebab platter. - Fallafel Experience:
Despite its fame, I found the fallafel itself to be insanely bland. However, the wrap and its accoutrements were very fresh, which was a positive aspect. - White Sauce:
They offer some kind of white sauce, but unfortunately, it didn’t enhance the flavor and only added to the blandness of the fallafel.
Overall Experience:
If you happen to be passing by, it’s worth grabbing a bite to see what the fuss is about. However, there’s no need to go out of your way to visit L’As du Fallafel while in Paris, as there are likely better options for experiencing authentic Middle Eastern cuisine in the city.
