1 Michelin Star
8.5/10

  • for my first time having omakase, it was definitely quite the experience
  • I think there were 21 courses in total each with there own little twist
  • I didn’t find it quite as enjoyable as Aburi Hana in Toronto for a 1 Michelin Star dining experience as Masayoshi was a little more cramped and the staff were running around me
  • this doesn’t take away from the quality of each dish as everything was still amazing
  • one of the other guests broke the toilet in the washroom so that wasn’t fun but the other guests I dined with were all really proper and super fun to dine and talk with
  • tons of really great nigiri and they even offer caviar as a DYI topping!
  • I loved that they would let you know which pieces went well with caviar and which ones didn’t require it
  • the final post to Masayoshi and I’d just want to end it off with a comparison and some thoughts about Masayoshi and it’s courses
  • personally, I don’t really like ocean fish, like the super salty fishes as much as I should and Masayoshi had quite a few of them
  • Additionally, even tho Masayoshi has 1 Michelin Star, I don’t believe it’s quite up to the same level of hospitality and quality as Aburi Hana in Toronto
  • definitely still an amazing omakase experience but I wonder why this place got a star over the tens of other omakase places in Vancouver
